Odisha Vigilance Conducts Multi-Location Raids on Engineer Over Disproportionate Assets Allegations

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday carried out simultaneous searches at six locations linked to Rajesh Chandra Mohanty, Additional Chief Engineer of the Central Irrigation Circle, over allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Acting on specific inputs, multiple vigilance teams launched the operation under search warrants issued by the Special Vigilance Judge in Cuttack. The raids are being conducted under the supervision of an Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. SP), with a team comprising 11 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), nine Inspectors, eight Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), and other supporting personnel.

Searches are underway at Mohanty’s residential triple-storeyed building located at Plot No. 210-B in Baramunda Housing Board Colony, Lane-8 in Bhubaneswar. Other locations include his paternal house at Kolhasingh village under Badachana police limits in Jajpur district, a relative’s house at Deula Sahi in Jubilee Town of Dhenkanal, his office chamber, and a double-storeyed building along with a farmhouse spread over multiple plots at Bimbol in Bhapur area of Dhenkanal. Additionally, a house belonging to a close associate at Nayabazar under Chauliaganj police station limits in Cuttack is also being searched.

Officials said the raids are part of an ongoing investigation into alleged accumulation of disproportionate assets. A detailed assessment of movable and immovable properties, documents, and other valuables is currently in progress.

Further details regarding the findings and any recoveries are expected to be released after the searches are completed.
