Odisha Sizzles as Temperatures Rise Sharply; Boudh Records Highest at 38.3°C

Bhubaneswar: Odisha witnessed a sharp rise in temperatures on Monday, with Boudh emerging as the hottest place in the state at 38.3°C, according to the evening bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 34.8°C and 33.4°C respectively, as residents grappled with intense heat and humid conditions.

Several western and interior districts reported notably high temperatures. Bolangir recorded 37.2°C, followed by Hirakud at 36.8°C and Bhawanipatna at 36.5°C. Sambalpur and Sonepur registered 36.2°C each, while Paralakhemundi touched 36.0°C. Angul reported 35.7°C, with Phulabani and Baripada both recording 35.4°C. Titlagarh stood at 35.0°C.

In coastal and other regions, Balasore, Chandbali, and Koraput recorded 34.0°C each. Bhadrak matched Bhubaneswar at 34.8°C, while Nuapada and Malkangiri reported 34.0°C. Rourkela registered 34.2°C. Jajpur, Cuttack, Chandrapur, and Kendrapada recorded temperatures between 33.4°C and 33.5°C.

Meanwhile, Khordha, Kendujhar, and Puri hovered between 33.5°C and 33.6°C. Dhenkanal recorded 33.5°C, while Paradip and Gopalpur reported 32.8°C each. Jharsuguda stood at 32.6°C, followed by Sundargarh and Nabarangpur at 32.5°C. Deogarh recorded 32.4°C, while Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, and Daringibadi settled at 32.0°C. Talcher recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 28.0°C.

The IMD has advised people to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses, especially the elderly, children, and those with existing health conditions.
