Central Range Police Tighten Security Ahead of Ramnavami, Crack Down on Illegal LPG Hoarding

Bhubaneswar: With the Ramnavami festival approaching, Central Range Police have intensified preparations to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration across districts under its jurisdiction. Inspector General of Police (Central Range), Dr. Satyajit Naik, chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess law and order readiness and overall policing arrangements.
During the meeting, emphasis was laid on maintaining robust law and order, ensuring smooth traffic management, and implementing effective crowd control measures. District police officials were directed to remain vigilant and take proactive steps to prevent any untoward incidents. Adequate deployment of forces, close monitoring of sensitive areas, and coordinated efforts among police units were highlighted as key strategies for managing large gatherings during the festival.

Apart from festival preparedness, the review also focused on enforcement actions against the illegal storage, smuggling, and hoarding of domestic LPG cylinders, particularly in the backdrop of the ongoing Middle East crisis. The police have been actively conducting raids and taking action against those involved in such unlawful activities.
In Kendrapada district, a case was registered at Sadar Police Station on March 22, 2026, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Essential Commodities Act. During the operation, 16 domestic LPG cylinders were seized, and one individual was arrested or served notice. Similarly, in Nayagarh district, a case was registered at Daspalla Police Station on March 13, 2026, under the Essential Commodities Act, leading to the seizure of seven LPG cylinders and action against one person.
The police reiterated their commitment to taking stringent action against hoarding and black-marketing of essential commodities. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies, adhere to regulations, and promptly report any suspicious or illegal activities.
Central Range Police have assured that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure a secure environment and the smooth conduct of Ramnavami celebrations.
