Armed Robbery in Balasore: Miscreants Loot Cash and Gold Worth Rs 50 Lakh

Bhubaneswar: In a daring late-night robbery, six armed miscreants looted cash and gold ornaments worth around Rs 50 lakh from a house in Balasore district.

According to reports, the incident took place at Kahalia village under Nilagiri NAC, when the accused barged into the residence of Govinda Singh on Wednesday night. The family was having dinner at the time of the attack.

The robbers, reportedly armed with country-made pistols and wearing masks, overpowered the family members, tied them up, and forced them to hand over the keys to the locker and almirah. They then fled the scene with Rs 20 lakh in cash and gold ornaments worth approximately Rs 30 lakh, escaping on two motorcycles.

Police have launched an investigation following the incident. The victim, Govinda Singh, alleged that while two of the robbers appeared to be from Odisha, the remaining four were suspected to be from outside the state.

Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused.
