3D Mapping Used in Jagannath Temple Ratna Bhandar Inventory

Puri: The inventory and assessment of the Chalanti Ratna Bhandar of the Shree Jagannath Temple made significant progress on Wednesday, with nearly 80 per cent of the valuables documented on the first day.
Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee said the exercise, which lasted nearly six hours, utilised advanced technology including 3D mapping, along with photography and videography, to ensure accurate documentation and preparation of a comprehensive inventory of the temple’s movable treasures.

The process involved detailed enumeration of gold ornaments and other items used in the daily rituals of Lord Jagannath. However, officials refrained from disclosing the quantity or specific details of the items assessed so far.
Dr Padhee informed that the remaining inventory work would continue over the next few days.
The ongoing exercise is considered significant as the last inventory and assessment of the Ratna Bhandar was conducted in 1978.
Meanwhile, during the process, public darshan from the Bhitara Katha was temporarily restricted, with devotees allowed to have darshan only from the Bahara Katha.
