ECoR GM Felicitates Two Railway Staff for Averting Potential Mishaps

Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager Parmeshwar Funkwal has felicitated two railway employees for their exceptional alertness and dedication in ensuring safe train operations.
The awardees include Srinivas Bhoi, Track Maintainer-II of Loisingha under Sambalpur Division, and Dhirendra Kumar Jena, Loco Pilot (Passenger) of Puri under Khurda Road Division. Both were recognised for their timely actions and presence of mind in averting potential safety hazards.
Swift response averted mishaps
On February 17, while performing Keyman duty between Loisingha and Balangir, Bhoi detected an abnormality in the wheel of a passing train. He observed that one of the wheels was not rotating and was emitting sparks. Acting swiftly, he alerted the Station Superintendent, leading to the immediate control of the train. Subsequent inspection revealed a locked axle and severe wheel defect, thereby preventing a possible major accident.
In a separate incident on March 4, Jena, while operating a MEMU train from Puri to Khurda Road, noticed track buckling between Malatipatpur and Sakhigopal. Demonstrating prompt action, he immediately halted the train and informed concerned officials. The track was later repaired, ensuring safe resumption of train services.
ECoR lauds dedication
Praising their efforts, Funkwal said that their vigilance and professional commitment played a crucial role in maintaining the safety and reliability of railway operations. He emphasised that alertness among frontline staff is vital for ensuring safe and uninterrupted train services.
East Coast Railway continues to promote a strong culture of safety and operational excellence by recognising employees who go above and beyond in the discharge of their duties.
