Trafficking Workshop Held in Paradeep, New Police Facilities Opened

A range-level workshop on human trafficking and women’s empowerment was held in Paradeep on March 17, bringing together police officials, legal experts, and civil society representatives to discuss prevention strategies and victim support.
The programme was conducted under the leadership of Inspector General of Police, Central Range, Dr. Satyajit Naik, and was attended by Jagatsinghpur Collector J. Sonal and Superintendent of Police Ankit Kumar Verma.

The workshop focused on various forms of human trafficking, including forced labour, sexual exploitation, child trafficking, bonded labour, and organ trafficking. Discussions also covered legal provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
Police personnel from districts under the Central Range participated in the programme, which served as a platform for capacity building and coordination in tackling trafficking and crimes against women.

Experts highlighted legal strategies for effective investigation, prosecution, victim protection, and rehabilitation. A technical session on women’s empowerment addressed legal rights, protection mechanisms, and the role of community support systems.
The workshop emphasized stronger coordination among police, administration, NGOs, and community institutions to ensure effective rescue, rehabilitation, and reintegration of victims.
On the occasion, a child-friendly police station was inaugurated at Paradeep Lock Police Station to provide a supportive environment for children interacting with law enforcement. A police aid post under Abhayachandrapur Police Station was also opened to strengthen policing infrastructure and improve public access to services.
The programme concluded with a valedictory session reaffirming the commitment of Central Range Police to combating human trafficking and promoting women’s empowerment.
