Elephant Found Dead in Dhenkanal, Electrocution Suspected

Dhenkanal: A 35-year-old elephant was found dead at Bimbola village under Sadar block in Dhenkanal district, with electrocution suspected to be the cause of death.

According to reports, the elephant had been frequently damaging crops in the area. In response, a farmer, identified as Kailash Pradhan, had installed a solar fence around his 10-acre agricultural land to protect his crops.

The tusker is suspected to have died after its trunk and leg came into contact with the solar fence wire during the night.

Following the incident, officials from the Forest Department detained Pradhan for questioning and have launched an investigation into the matter.

Sources said the deceased tusker had only one tusk remaining.
