Fire Breaks Out Inside House in Keonjhar
A devastating fire claimed the life of a young man in Odisha’s Keonjhar district late Thursday night. The incident occurred in the Bada Danda Sahi area of Anandpur, where Devendra Mishra was living alone.
Reports said Devendra returned home late in the evening. Shortly after, flames engulfed the house. Locals noticed the blaze and alerted his relatives nearby. Family members and neighbours rushed to the spot and tried to douse the fire before informing Fire Services and police. Firefighters reached the location and battled the flames until they brought the situation under control.
By then, Devendra had already succumbed inside the house. His charred remains were later recovered from the gutted structure.
Relatives suspect that an unattended beedi may have triggered the fire, as Devendra was known to smoke regularly. Police are investigating whether a lit cigar or beedi sparked the blaze that spread rapidly through the house. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and further inquiry continues to determine the exact cause.
