Man Hacked to Death Outside ADJ Court in Bhanjanagar

Bhanjanagar: In a shocking incident in broad daylight, a 44-year-old man was allegedly hacked to death with an axe outside the Additional District Judge (ADJ) Court in Bhanjanagar town of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Ashok Kumar Swain, a resident of Buduli village.

According to reports, Ashok had come to the ADJ Court in Bhanjanagar to attend a hearing in connection with a case. After completing his court-related work and stepping out of the court premises, he was suddenly attacked by a man armed with an axe just outside the court complex.
The assailant allegedly struck Ashok multiple times, causing deep injuries to his head and both hands. The brutal attack took place in front of passersby, creating panic in the area.
Local residents immediately intervened and managed to overpower the accused before alerting the police. The critically injured Ashok was rushed to the Bhanjanagar Sub-Divisional Hospital, where doctors declared him dead while he was undergoing treatment.
Police soon reached the spot, seized the axe used in the crime, and detained the accused for questioning. The motive behind the attack is yet to be established.
The gruesome murder near the court complex, located a short distance from the Bhanjanagar police station, has sent shockwaves across the town. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
