Elephant Rescued From Well in Keonjhar Village, Three Injured in Chaos

Bhubaneswar: A wild elephant that fell into a well in Banajodi village under the Keonjhar Sadar Range was successfully rescued by forest department officials after hours of effort on Wednesday.

According to reports, a herd of elephants had entered the village in search of food when one of the animals accidentally fell into a well. Local residents immediately informed forest officials, who rushed to the spot and began a rescue operation.

To free the trapped elephant, the forest department dug open the well from all sides using heavy machinery after several hours of continuous effort. The elephant was eventually able to climb out safely.

However, moments after emerging from the well, the distressed animal turned aggressive and attacked a JCB machine used in the rescue operation. In the commotion that followed, the elephant also damaged several nearby houses and at least seven parked bikes.

Three villagers were injured during the chaos and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Forest officials later managed to control the situation and guide the elephant back towards the forest area.
