Fresh Bomb Threat Hits Sambalpur District Court

The Sambalpur District Court received a fresh bomb threat late Sunday night, sparking an urgent security alert and a sweeping search operation across the premises.

Senior police officers rushed to the court complex immediately after the threat surfaced. Around 11:00 pm, a specialised team comprising the bomb disposal squad, sniffer dog unit, and cyber police personnel arrived and launched a detailed inspection. They checked entry points, interior sections, equipment rooms, and other areas of the complex using sniffer dogs and metal detectors.

The search continued well into the night. Authorities confirmed no explosives or suspicious items were found. Police strengthened security arrangements as a precautionary measure, and these heightened protocols will remain in place until further notice.

Officials noted that the Sambalpur District Court bomb threat resembled earlier alerts targeting courts in Odisha. Recent incidents in Sambalpur and other districts suggest a possible sequence of hoax threats. Senior officers, including the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), and Inspectors-in-Charge from local stations, supervised the verification and response.

Investigators have not disclosed how the threat was received, whether by email, phone call, or other means. The origin remains under investigation.

Court activities are expected to continue normally on Monday, though with significantly reinforced security measures to ensure safety.
