Two Policemen Critically Injured in High-Speed Chase After Ganja Smugglers in Koraput

Boipariguda: Two police personnel sustained critical injuries after their motorcycles crashed during a high-speed chase of suspected ganja smugglers in the Ramgiri area under Boipariguda police limits in Odisha’s Koraput district.
The injured officers have been identified as Ramgiri outpost Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Bishnu Madkami and driver Dambaru Chalan.

According to reports, the Ramgiri police outpost received specific information that three ganja smugglers were travelling through the Ramgiri area on a motorcycle. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, police personnel launched an immediate operation to intercept the suspects.
ASI Bishnu Madkami and driver Dambaru Chalan pursued the alleged smugglers on two separate motorcycles. During the chase, nearly 11 kilometres from the Ramgiri outpost near Dhalapur Nursery, both police motorcycles reportedly met with a serious accident while negotiating a sharp curve on the road.
The impact of the crash threw both officers onto the road, leaving them critically injured. Amid the confusion following the accident, the suspected smugglers managed to flee from the spot.
Local residents, along with personnel from Boipariguda police station, rushed to the scene and rescued the injured officers. They were immediately shifted to the Boipariguda Community Health Centre (CHC) by ambulance.
After receiving primary treatment, doctors referred both policemen to Saheed Laxman Nayak (SLN) Medical College and Hospital in Koraput as their condition was reported to be critical.
Police have launched further efforts to trace and apprehend the absconding smugglers. Investigation into the incident is currently underway.
