12-Year-Old Missing Girl Found Dead Under Bush in Angul; Probe Underway

Angul: In a tragic incident that has shaken the local community, a 12-year-old girl who had been missing for the past two days was found dead under a bush in Odisha’s Angul district on Friday.

The incident took place under the jurisdiction of the NTPC police station. The deceased, a Class VIII student of a nearby school, had been reported missing by her family earlier this week.

According to police officials, a missing person case was registered after the girl’s father lodged a complaint. “We registered a case based on the complaint filed by the deceased’s father. Early this morning, the girl’s body was recovered,” a police officer said.

Soon after the recovery, senior police officers rushed to the spot along with a forensic team and a dog squad to conduct a detailed investigation. The area was cordoned off as investigators began collecting evidence from the scene.

The body has been sent to a local hospital for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. Police said further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
