CM Mohan Majhi Lays Foundation Stone for New Odisha Bhawan in New Delhi

Bhubaneswar: Panic prevailed at Toshali Bhawan in Satya Nagar on Thursday after a fire broke out in the building’s record room, triggering concern among officials and staff. The blaze is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit and reportedly damaged several important documents and files stored in the room.

According to sources, thick smoke was first noticed emanating from the record section, prompting employees to immediately alert the fire services. The situation quickly turned tense as smoke spread to other parts of the building, leading to the swift evacuation of staff and officials present at the premises.

Fire service personnel rushed to the spot soon after receiving information about the incident. After sustained efforts, they managed to bring the flames under control and prevent the fire from spreading further. Police from Kharvelnagar police station also reached the site to take stock of the situation and ensure law and order.

An employee present at the building said that smoke was seen billowing from the record room, following which emergency services were informed without delay. “It was a tense moment. We immediately alerted the fire services after noticing smoke,” the employee said.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the full extent of the damage. A detailed assessment is underway to evaluate the loss of records and determine the exact cause of the fire. Officials indicated that a thorough inquiry will be conducted to ascertain whether the blaze was solely due to an electrical short circuit or if other factors were involved.
