Odisha Govt Sanctions ₹1 Crore for New Brahma Taladhwaja Chariot of Lord Baladevjew Temple

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday approved a grant of ₹1 crore for the construction of a new Brahma Taladhwaja chariot of the famous Lord Baladevjew Temple in Kendrapara district. The decision comes in the wake of recent operational issues that caused delays during key rituals and festivals.
Law, Works and Excise Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan informed that the existing chariot’s 14 wheels are in a deteriorated condition, which has hampered its smooth movement. “Due to the poor condition of the wheels, the chariot failed to reach the Mausi Maa Temple on time, leading to delays of up to two days. A similar issue was witnessed during the Bahuda Yatra,” the Minister said.
To avoid recurrence of such disruptions, the state government has sanctioned ₹1 crore to ensure the timely construction of a new chariot. The Law Department has also issued an independent directive to facilitate the work and ensure that the project is completed without any obstacles.
Minister Harichandan emphasised that the grant would greatly benefit devotees and the local community. “The state government remains committed to preserving the rituals and long-standing traditions of the temple. This financial assistance will ensure the smooth movement of the chariot during all ceremonial occasions,” he added.
The announcement has been welcomed by residents of Kendrapara and devotees across Odisha, who view the move as a significant step toward safeguarding the religious heritage and traditions associated with the iconic Lord Baladevjew Temple.
