‘Cyber Kavach’ Drive: 1,390 Bank Accounts Verified, 97 Cases Registered in Central Range

Bhubaneswar: Under the ongoing statewide special drive “Cyber Kavach”, the Central Range Police in Odisha have intensified action against mule bank accounts and cyber-enabled financial fraud across seven districts, achieving significant progress as of February 22, 2026.

The special drive focuses on identifying and dismantling mule bank account networks frequently used in online financial frauds. Through sustained verification, legal action, and preventive enforcement, police have verified a total of 1,390 bank accounts across the Central Range.

According to official data, 97 new cases have been registered so far, while three old FIRs have been linked during the course of investigation. Ten accused persons have been arrested, and 436 preventive notices have been served to individuals suspected of facilitating or operating mule accounts.

District-wise Performance

In Cuttack Rural, police verified 50 bank accounts, registered 12 new cases, and served 38 notices. Jagatsinghpur reported verification of 92 bank accounts, six new cases, and nine notices served.

Jajpur recorded the highest number of account verifications at 499, along with nine new cases and 108 notices served. In Kendrapara, 325 accounts were verified, 23 new cases registered, and 182 notices issued.

Khurda saw verification of 212 bank accounts and registration of 13 new cases, with 39 notices served. Nayagarh police verified 58 accounts, registered two new cases, linked two old FIRs, and served 58 notices.

Puri registered 32 new cases after verifying 154 bank accounts. One old FIR was linked, 10 accused were arrested, and two notices were served in the district.

Continued Crackdown

Officials stated that the drive aims not only to take legal action against offenders but also to deter misuse of financial instruments through preventive measures. Inter-district coordination and strict scrutiny are being maintained to track and dismantle cyber fraud networks operating through mule accounts.

Odisha Police has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding citizens from cybercrime and urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious financial transactions or activities.

The special drive will continue with intensified enforcement and monitoring in the coming days.
