Acting on credible intelligence, Rourkela Police dismantled a major betting syndicate linked to the ongoing T-20 World Cup 2026.
Coordinated raids in Sector-B, Bondamunda, led to the arrest of six individuals and the seizure of incriminating materials.
Police recovered Rs 30,65,000 in cash, a Mahindra Thar vehicle, nine mobile phones, laptops, bank passbooks, and other documents used in the illegal betting operations. Investigators confirmed that the accused conducted both online and offline betting activities, luring participants with promises of high returns.
During interrogation, prime accused Rohit Bhagat revealed that he, along with his brother Pankaj Kumar Bhagat and associates Sonu Rao and Mukesh Sahoo, operated betting through an online gaming application called “Silver Exchange.” They procured and circulated betting IDs among customers to facilitate transactions.
Further investigation exposed the involvement of Jitendra Agarwal and Suresh Kumar Khemka of Bisra Dahar Road, Rourkela, who allegedly invested in and supported the network. Police sources stated that the syndicate maintained structured roles for ID procurement, customer handling, financial management, and coordination.
