Rayagada: 3 youths including a minor, killed after bike hit tanker

Rayagada: In a tragic incident, at least three youths were killed after their bike hit a tanker truck in Rayagada district of Odisha on Tuesday morning. The accident took place at Musuripadar intersection under Kashipur police station limits in the district.

The deceased persons have been identified as Narendra Jhodia, Bipin Jhodia and Tunu Jhodia of Mahatput Khurigaon under Tikiri police station limits. A minor is among the deceased.

As per reports, the three were returning on a bike after witnessing the Shivaratri yatra when the rider hit a tanker truck that had been parked on the roadside.

Soon after the mishap, the three were rescued in critical condition and admitted to Utkal Hospital in Ushapara for treatment. However, the doctor there declared one dead. The other two were shifted to Rayagada District Headquarter Hospital where they also succumbed to the critical injury.

Tension gripped the area following the accident. The locals blocked the road demanding compensation for the deceased’s family. Tikiri police have reached the spot and are trying to mediate with the aggrieved people.
