Railways Adds Coaches to Key Express Trains

Bhubaneswar: Indian Railways has temporarily increased the number of coaches in several long-distance express trains to accommodate the surge in passenger demand and improve travel comfort during the busy season.
According to an official release, additional Sleeper Class coaches have been attached to multiple services operating between Odisha and other parts of the country.

For the Kamakhya–Puri Express (Train No. 15640), one extra Sleeper Class coach has been added from February 1 to April 26, 2026. Similarly, the Puri–Kamakhya Express (Train No. 15639) is running with an additional Sleeper coach from February 3 to April 28, 2026.
In another augmentation, the Kamakhya–Puri Express (Train No. 15644) has been provided with one extra Sleeper Class coach from February 5 to April 30, 2026, while the Puri–Kamakhya Express (Train No. 15643) will have the additional coach attached from February 7 to May 2, 2026.
The Railway authorities have also increased capacity in the Sri Ganganagar–Puri Superfast Express (Train No. 20471) by adding one Sleeper Class coach from February 1 to February 22, 2026. Correspondingly, the Puri–Sri Ganganagar Superfast Express (Train No. 20472) is operating with an extra Sleeper coach from February 4 to February 25, 2026.
East Coast Railway stated that the decision was taken to ensure smoother travel and greater convenience for passengers during the peak travel period. Travelers have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and make use of the enhanced accommodation facilities.
