Worker Killed in Industrial Accident at Cement Factory in Sundargarh

Sundargarh: A 25-year-old worker lost his life in a tragic industrial accident at a cement manufacturing unit in Rajgangpur town of Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Tuesday, sparking tension and protests outside the factory premises.
The incident took place at around 1 PM inside the stockyard area of Dalmia Cement Bharat Limited. According to preliminary information, the worker was on duty near the end stopper of an internal railway track when he was allegedly run over and crushed by the rear wagon of a goods train operating within the factory campus.
The deceased has been identified as Chandra Minj (25), a resident of Bhikapada village under Kutunia Panchayat in Rajgangpur.
After the accident, the body was shifted to the Rourkela Government Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, family members of the deceased, along with local villagers, gathered outside the main gate of the factory demanding compensation and action against those responsible.
As tensions escalated, police personnel were deployed at the site to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident.
Factory authorities have not yet issued an official statement detailing the circumstances leading to the accident or announcing any compensation or relief measures.
The deceased’s family members continued their sit-in protest at the factory gate till late evening, seeking immediate financial assistance and accountability in connection with the incident. An investigation into the matter is expected to follow.
