Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi Hails Union Budget 2026–27 as Visionary and Inclusive

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday welcomed the Union Budget 2026–27, describing it as forward-looking, inclusive, and aligned with the vision of “Development with Heritage.”

Extending greetings on the occasion of Magha Purnima and the birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji, Majhi congratulated Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting the budget under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said the budget creates new opportunities for youth, ensures security for farmers, offers incentives to entrepreneurs, provides relief to the middle class, and recognises the contribution of workers. He noted that the budget places strong emphasis on innovation, manufacturing, and employment generation, while strengthening key sectors such as agriculture, rural development, infrastructure, tourism, culture, and knowledge traditions.

Highlighting Odisha’s expected gains, Majhi said the proposed Rare Earth Corridor would significantly boost mineral processing, research, and high-technology manufacturing in the state. He added that the operationalisation of National Waterway-5 (NW-5) would connect mineral-rich and industrial regions to ports, enabling cost-effective and environmentally sustainable transportation. Skill development centres planned along the waterway, he said, would help equip local youth with training and employment opportunities.

The Chief Minister also welcomed conservation-based tourism initiatives, including Turtle Trails and mountain trails in the Eastern Ghats. He said these measures would help protect biodiversity, empower local communities, and position Odisha as a global destination for nature and adventure tourism.

Majhi further stated that enhanced support for MSMEs, startups, and indigenous production would strengthen the foundation of an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Emphasising social justice, inclusive development, and good governance, he said the budget lays a strong foundation for India’s present and future growth.

Thanking the Prime Minister and the Union Finance Minister, the Chief Minister described the Union Budget as both visionary and welfare-oriented.
