World-famous Joranda Mela starts from today

Odisha: The famous Joranda Mela of the Mahima sect will be observed from today in at Shunya Mandir in Dhenkanal. The annual spiritual fair will be held for three days from January 30 till February 2, 2026.
Lakhs of Mahima sadhus, devotees,and tourists from different states across India will gather at Dhenkanal’s Shunya Mandir to pay homage to Mahima Swami. Many foreigners also visit the Mahima Magha mela.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will likely visit the Joranda Mela on February 1, 2026.
One of the main rituals of Joranda Mela is the lighting of the ‘Jhada Deepa’, a sacred fire lit with ghee, symbolizing purity and devotion.
The mela is observed every year on the full moon day of Magha. The devotees believe in the philosophy of Sunya Brahma, the formless Supreme Being.
