H&UD Minister Inspects IG Park, Flags Poor Maintenance

Bhubaneswar: Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra carried out a surprise inspection of Indira Gandhi (IG) Park in Bhubaneswar to review the condition of public amenities and overall maintenance of the popular public space.
During the visit, the Minister interacted with visitors and sought feedback on the facilities available at the park. Located in a prime area of the city and attracting a large number of daily visitors, IG Park was observed to require greater attention in terms of cleanliness and upkeep.
The Minister expressed serious dissatisfaction over the poor maintenance of the park, particularly highlighting the unhygienic condition of urinals and toilet facilities. He directed the concerned authorities to take immediate corrective measures and ensure proper sanitation, regular maintenance and improved service standards. Warning of strict action, the Minister said officials responsible for negligence would be held accountable if such lapses continue.
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Deputy Commissioner N. Ganesh Babu accompanied the Minister during the inspection. Officials and maintenance staff of IG Park were instructed to strengthen monitoring mechanisms to ensure the park remains clean, safe and visitor-friendly at all times.
