Former GRS sent to jail after getting convicted in bribery case

Subarnapur: Soubhagyabanta Sahu, the former GRS of Panchamahala Grama Panchyat in Subarnapur district was sent to jail after getting convicted in a bribery case.
According to reports Sahu was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case vide Sambalpur Vigilance PS case No.44 dt.01.06.2018 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act, 1988 for demanding and taking bribe from a beneficiary in order to release 3rd installment for his BPGY house under Rural Housing Scheme.
Today, he was convicted by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Balangir and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of four years and fine. Later, he was sent to jail custody to serve his sentence.
Kisan, ex-DSP, Vigilance, Sambalpur Division had investigated the case and Jayakrishna Sahu and Swarup Ranjan Rath, Special Public Persecutor, Vigilance, Balangir jointly conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
