Six Illegal Pistols Seized, One Arrested in Bhubaneswar Firearms Bust

Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown on the illegal firearms trade, the Special Crime Unit of the Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Police Commissionerate seized six semi-automatic pistols along with 10 rounds of live ammunition and arrested a key suspect during a late-night operation.

The accused has been identified as Papu alias Manoj Kumar Mallick, a resident of Jajpur district. Acting on a specific tip-off, the police conducted the operation at around 2 am near Kuji Mahal Play Ground under the Chandaka police station limits.

According to an official release issued by the Police Commissionerate, the seizure also included six magazines, a mobile phone, a two-wheeler and Rs 500 in cash from the possession of the accused.

Police officials said the accused is being interrogated to gather information about his activities and to uncover links to a larger illegal arms supply network. Efforts are underway to trace the supply chain, identify financial backers, and expose other individuals involved in the racket.

The accused will be produced before the court, while further investigation into the case is continuing.
