OPS STRIKE Conducted Across Central Range to Strengthen Law and Order

Cuttack: Under the supervision and direction of the Director General of Police (DGP), Odisha, a special enforcement operation titled OPS STRIKE was carried out across all districts of the Central Range on January 14, 2026. The operation was led by the Inspector General of Police, Central Range, Cuttack, with the objective of strengthening law and order, preventing crime, curbing anti-social activities, and enforcing traffic, excise, and NDPS laws.

As part of the coordinated drive, special teams were constituted at the police station level in all districts. Extensive naka checking was undertaken, hotels and lodges were verified, and focused operations were conducted against excise and narcotics offences, along with the execution of pending non-bailable warrants (NBWs).

In Jagatsinghpur district, four special teams were formed in each police station area. Police checked 17 hotels and lodges and activated 20 check posts. A total of 183 vehicles were inspected, resulting in fines of ₹22,500 and the registration of three drunken driving cases. Fourteen excise cases were registered, four persons were arrested, and 62 litres of illicit liquor were seized. Additionally, four NBWs were executed.

In Nayagarh district, police teams checked 21 hotels and lodges and activated six naka points. As many as 504 vehicles were inspected, leading to fines of ₹1.35 lakh and three drunken driving cases. Seventeen excise cases were registered, with seizures including 114.8 litres of illicit liquor and 9 litres of foreign liquor. Five NBWs were executed during the operation.

The drive yielded major results in Khordha district, where 27 hotels and lodges were checked and 13 check posts were activated. Police inspected 203 vehicles and imposed fines amounting to ₹2.92 lakh. Two drunken driving cases, two NDPS cases, and two excise cases were registered, leading to the arrest of four persons. Seizures included 52.74 grams of brown sugar, 40.250 kg of ganja, a country-made pistol with three live rounds, cash, motorcycles, and mobile phones, along with 8.8 litres of country spirit liquor.

In Puri district, police checked 485 vehicles and collected ₹3.01 lakh in fines from 282 defaulters. Eight excise cases were detected, with seizures of illicit liquor, foreign liquor, and liquid bhanga. Seven sand-laden trucks were also detained during the operation.

In Kendrapara district, police checked 21 hotels and lodges and activated 16 naka points. A total of 110 vehicles were inspected, resulting in fines of ₹1.50 lakh, and one NBW was executed.

In Cuttack district, 22 hotels and lodges were checked and 282 vehicles were inspected, with fines amounting to ₹3.45 lakh. Five drunken driving cases were registered, along with five excise cases, leading to the seizure of 25.50 litres of illicit liquor. Twelve NBWs were executed or recalled.

In Jajpur district, police checked 12 hotels and lodges and activated 10 check posts. A total of 215 vehicles were inspected, resulting in fines of ₹49,500. Six excise cases were registered, six persons were arrested, and 37.6 litres of illicit liquor were seized. Two NBWs were also executed.

Police officials said OPS STRIKE has produced significant results in crime prevention, seizure of contraband, traffic enforcement, and execution of pending warrants across the Central Range. Such coordinated enforcement drives will continue in the future to ensure public safety, curb illegal activities, and maintain law and order.
