Lord Lingaraj’s Makar Sankranti rituals not going on due to servitor dispute

Bhubaneswar: In an unfortunate development, the special rituals of Lord Lingaraj that were supposed to have been executed at the famous Lord Lingaraj temple in the capital city of Odisha today on the occasion of Makara Sankranti is not going on due to dispute between servitors.
Accordingly, since the deity has not been offered any food, He is said to be in fasting.
As per reports, the ‘Nabanna Laagi’ ritual was supposed to take place at the temple today. However, the rituals have been stopped for the last 12 hours.
Prabhu Lingaraj’s rituals are closed due to dispute between the Brahmin Niyog and Badu Niyog. The dispute has been going on for the past few years. Badu Niyog approached the High Court regarding this. Hence, the court had directed the Endowment Department to resolve the dispute. But it has not been resolved yet.
Therefore, all rituals of Prabhu Lingaraj have been closed from yesterday after the Sandhya Dhupa ritual.
The servitors have warned that the rituals will remain closed until the problem is resolved.
Devotees have expressed their dissatisfaction over stopping of this ritual of Lord Lingaraj due to servitor dispute.
