Fire Breaks Out at Jharsuguda Railway Station, Train Services Disrupted

Jharsuguda: A massive fire broke out at Jharsuguda railway station around 11 am on Tuesday, reportedly due to a short circuit in an air-conditioning unit, triggering panic among passengers.
The station premises were quickly engulfed in thick smoke, forcing authorities to evacuate passengers from the platforms as a precautionary measure. Fire brigade teams rushed to the spot and are engaged in efforts to bring the blaze under control.

Personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and Jharsuguda police are present at the site and are coordinating crowd management and safety operations.
The fire led to a disruption in power supply at the station and caused damage to key facilities, including the ticket counter, the station master’s chamber, and the DTC chamber. The exact extent of damage is yet to be assessed.
Officials said train services are likely to remain suspended until the situation is fully normalised and electrical and communication systems are restored.
