Guitarist of Grateful Dead, Bob Weir passes away at 78

New Delhi: Guitarist of Grateful Dead, Bob Weir passes away at 78. He was born on October 16, 1947 and passed away on January 10, 2026 (Saturday).
The cause of his death is reportedly said to be Lung issues. Before that he was diagnosed with cancer but he was able to survive and managed to beat the disease in july.
In 1965, Weir, along with Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann and Ron “Pigpen” McKernan formed the ‘Grateful Dead’ band and produced smash rock hits for the next 30 years.
The Grateful Dead band was disbanded in 1995 after which he performed with other ones (later known as The Dead).
He was the youngest member of his band and has dominated the jam for years.
His last performance was in past summer where all the members gathered to celebrate band’s 60th anniversary.
He wrote iconic Dead songs like “Sugar Magnolia,” “Truckin’,” “Cassidy” and “Throwing Stones.”
Wier was succeeded by his wife Natascha Münter and two daughters.
