Odisha shivers in intense cold wave

Bhubaneswar: Cold wave refuses to loosen it’s grip over Odisha as the state continues to shiver under intense cold wave on Sunday. The intense cold has broke record of 70 years as temperature has dipped below 10 degrees Celsius in 28 cities across the state over the past 24 hours.
The upper Barakamuda area of Similipal,Mayurbhanj has become the coldest place of the state with temperature dipping to a chilling minus 1 degree Celsius. Meanwhile, G. Udayagiri recorded the lowest at 3.2 degrees Celsius and Rourkela experienced the lowest night temperature of 73 years at 4.1 degree Celsius and Jahrsuguda at 4.5 degrees Celsius.
The cold conditions broke 22-year record in Bhubaneswar with temperature plummeting to 9.2 degrees Celsius.
A yellow warning for intense to very intense cold conditions has been issued to the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, and Angul for the next 24 hours.
The cold spell has gripped the state, with several districts witnessing temperatures below 10°C.
Phulbani, Angul, and Daringbadi also witnessed temperatures around 6°C, while Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Nabarangapur witnessed temperatures above 6°C. The capital city, Bhubaneswar, has recorded a temperature of 9.2°C, making it one of the coldest nights in recent years.
While Dhenkanal recorded 7.7°C, Bhawanipatna 8.2°C, and Cuttack at 9°C.
The cold wave is expected to continue, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a cold wave alert for several districts, advising people to take necessary precautions.
The temperature is expected to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius from today.
