CM Majhi Inaugurates Trauma Care Centre, New OPD at Sambalpur DHH

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday inaugurated a state-of-the-art Trauma Care Centre and a new OPD building at the Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) during his two-day visit to the district.

The state government has invested ₹21.28 crore in the construction of the Trauma Care Centre and OPD building to ensure immediate and specialised medical treatment for accident victims. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) building, built at a cost of ₹2.53 crore, which will use modern systems for cleaning and sterilising medical instruments and equipment.

Speaking to the media, Majhi said the increasing number of road accidents has underscored the need for Trauma Care Centres in every district. He emphasised that the primary objective of these centres is to provide prompt and assured treatment to accident victims, thereby reducing fatalities and serious injuries.

The Chief Minister said that within 13 days of assuming office, discussions were held with the Health Department, following which a decision was taken to establish Trauma Care Centres in all government medical colleges, district headquarters hospitals, and major government hospitals across Odisha. He informed that steps are underway to set up 89 advanced Trauma Care Centres across the state.

Highlighting the government’s focus on strengthening healthcare infrastructure, Majhi said the inauguration of the new OPD building at Sambalpur DHH is a significant step towards providing modern and accessible healthcare facilities. He expressed confidence that the upgraded infrastructure would greatly benefit the people of Sambalpur district.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra, former MLA Nauri Nayak, District Collector Siddheshwar Baliram Bondar, and other dignitaries were present at the event.
