Youth Stabbed to Death After Altercation in Puri’s Swargadwar Area

Bhubaneswar: A youth was brutally stabbed to death following a verbal altercation in the Swargadwar area of Puri late Thursday night, sending shockwaves through the locality.

The deceased has been identified as Ranjan Kumar Das, a resident of Banta block in Bhadrak district. According to reports, Ranjan had come to Swargadwar to attend the funeral of a relative and was waiting outside the cremation area when he got into an argument with another youth.

The dispute soon escalated, and the accused allegedly attacked Ranjan with a knife, stabbing him in the neck. The assault proved fatal, and Ranjan died on the spot.

Manas Ranjan Nayak, who was accompanying the victim, was also attacked during the incident and sustained injuries. He was later provided medical treatment.

On receiving information, personnel from the Beach police station reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to trace and arrest the accused, who is currently absconding.
