Cold Wave to Continue in Odisha for Two More Days: IMD

Bhubaneswar: Cold wave conditions are likely to continue across Odisha for the next two days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast. IMD scientist Umashankar Das said temperatures have dropped sharply in several parts of the state, with many regions experiencing intense winter chill.

According to the latest data, the minimum temperature dipped to 5°C in G. Udayagiri and Semiliguda, followed by 6.5°C in Phulbani. Jharsuguda recorded 7°C, Chipilima 7.6°C, Kirei 8.1°C, Bhawanipatna 8.8°C, while Angul and Daringbadi registered 9°C. Rourkela recorded 9.1°C, Sundargarh 9.2°C, and Balangir 10°C.

The IMD has warned that the cold wave may intensify further, accompanied by dense fog in several districts. Alerts have been issued for Sundargarh, Angul, Jharsuguda, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Khurda, Nabarangpur, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Boudh and Kandhamal till December 12.

The department has advised residents to take necessary precautions as temperatures continue to drop across the state.
