Cuttack to Face Traffic Restrictions on Dec 8 & 9 for India–South Africa T20 Match

Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the India–South Africa T20 International scheduled at Barabati Stadium on December 9, the Commissionerate Police has announced extensive traffic restrictions in Cuttack to ensure security and smooth vehicle movement.

According to a notification issued by Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh, restrictions will remain in force on December 8 from 12 PM to 9 PM for the teams’ practice sessions and on December 9 from 8 AM until the end of the match or dispersal of the crowd.

The regulations have been imposed under Section 28 of the Odisha Urban Police Act, 2003, along with Regulation 36 of the Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Police Commissionerate (Traffic and Public Order) Regulation, 2008.

Key Traffic Restrictions

•Vehicles coming from Mata Matha must park at Lower Baliyatra Ground, while passholder vehicles will be diverted to Upper Baliyatra Ground via the Bamboo Depot.

•Vehicles from Howrah Motor Chhak and Mani Sahoo Chhak will not be allowed towards Madhusudan Statue from Grinnar Hotel Chhak; they must take the Mahanadi Ring Road and park at Lower Baliyatra Ground.

•Except for passholders, no vehicles will be permitted towards Barabati Stadium from Biju Patnaik Chhak or Chandi Chhak; they must divert via Cantonment PS Chhak.

•No vehicles will be allowed towards Baliyatra Ground via Killa Fort from Ananda Bhawan Chhak; diversion via Cantonment PS Chhak is mandatory.

•Traffic from Samaj Office Chhak towards Madhusudan Statue via Hanuman Mandir Chhak will be restricted for non-passholder vehicles.

•OCA Ground passholders may access parking at the OCA Cricket Academy Ground through YMCA Crossing or Lions Eye Hospital.

•Vehicles from Reserve Police Line cannot enter the stadium area through OPA Chhak.

•From Madhusudan Statue Chhak and Lions Eye Hospital Chhak (via Kill Khana Road), only passholder vehicles will be allowed towards the stadium. Others must use the Ring Road to reach Lower Baliyatra Ground.

•Heavy vehicles will be strictly prohibited on Mahanadi and Kathajodi Ring Roads and within city limits from 8 AM to 2 AM.

•Heavy vehicle movement on Mahanadi Ring Road between Chahata Chhak and Sikharpur Chhak towards Bamboo Depot will be barred from 12 PM to 10 PM.

Emergency services—including ambulances, fire tenders, police vehicles, and essential goods carriers—are exempt from these restrictions.

The Commissionerate Police has urged commuters to plan alternative routes in advance to avoid inconvenience during the match-related traffic curbs.
