Flying Squad Busts Illegal Drug Racket in Cuttack; One Held With Brown Sugar

Bhubaneswar: A flying squad of the Excise Intelligence and Enforcement Bureau (Unit-I, Cuttack) on Friday busted an illegal narcotics operation, arresting one person and seizing a substantial quantity of brown sugar.

The accused, identified as Sabir Saha (31) of Satichaura Imampada under Markatnagar police limits in Cuttack, was caught with 158 grams of brown sugar during a targeted raid at Imampada. Officials estimated the market value of the seized contraband at ₹15.08 lakh.

The raid was led by Sub-Inspector of Excise Balbir Garnayak, who headed the enforcement team conducting the operation. Following the seizure, Saha was arrested and booked under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985. He was later forwarded to judicial custody.

The seizure adds to the series of recent successful operations by the Excise Department as part of its intensified crackdown on illegal drug trafficking in the region.
