Odisha Suspends 241 Vehicle Registrations in Crackdown on Repeat Traffic Violators

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Commerce and Transport Department has intensified its enforcement efforts under the ongoing ‘Zero Fatality Fortnight’, taking strict action against motorists with a record of repeated traffic violations. As part of the first phase of the crackdown, registration certificates (RCs) of 241 vehicles have been suspended across the state.
Officials said vehicle owners flagged for habitual violations were identified through enforcement data. In coordination with the police, the Transport Department has launched targeted drives to penalise persistent offenders, warning that further measures — including permanent cancellation of registrations — will continue during the campaign.

Sambalpur RTO recorded the highest number of suspended registrations at 57, followed by Sundargarh with 52. The ‘Zero Fatality Fortnight’, which runs until November 30, aims to curb road accidents through a combination of awareness programmes and heightened enforcement to ensure safer roads across Odisha.
