Ganja Cultivation Destroyed in Massive Joint Raid in Bonai Subdivision

Sundargarh: A special joint enforcement team, formed under the direct instructions of Bonai Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ram Chandra Biswal, carried out a large-scale crackdown on illegal ganja cultivation in the forest areas of the region. The team included officers from Tikayatpali and Gurundia police stations, along with personnel from the Excise and Forest departments.
Acting on credible intelligence inputs, the team raided forest zones under both police station limits and destroyed nearly 3 acres of illicit ganja crops in the Kelo jungle under Gurundia police limits. The destruction was conducted in the presence of an executive magistrate, with the seized plants—valued at approximately ₹30 lakh in the black market—being burnt on the spot.

SDPO Ram Chandra Biswal stated that such joint operations will continue aggressively across the subdivision. He warned that strict legal action will be taken against all individuals involved in illegal cultivation, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to completely eliminating ganja farming from the Bonai region.
