Cold Wave Returns to Odisha as Temperatures Dip Below 15°C in Several Areas

Bhubaneswar: Winter has made a strong comeback in Odisha, with temperatures falling below 15°C in as many as 15 locations across the state. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), four places recorded temperatures of 12°C or lower, signaling a renewed cold wave.

The IMD has forecast that night temperatures will dip further by 2–3°C over the next two days, bringing even chillier conditions. The cold spell is expected to persist, with most parts of interior and southern Odisha likely to experience temperatures below 15°C on Thursday and Friday. However, a slight rise of 2–3°C in night temperatures is anticipated after the next two days, continuing over a five-day period.

On Tuesday night, G Udayagiri recorded the lowest temperature at 8.6°C, followed by Daringbadi (10°C), Rourkela (10.1°C), and Jharsuguda (10.4°C). Other notable readings include Phulbani (12°C), Keonjhar (12.5°C), Sundargarh (12.6°C), Koraput (13.2°C), Baripada (12.6°C), Bhawanipatna (13.8°C), Nabarangapur (13.8°C), Bhadrak (14°C), Dhenkanal (14.1°C), Rayagada (14.4°C), and Sambalpur (15.2°C). The night temperature stood at 14.6°C in Cuttack, while Bhubaneswar recorded 16°C.
