Cold Wave to Ease in Odisha as Night Temperature Begins to Rise

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to get some relief from the prevailing cold wave, with night temperatures expected to rise by 1–2°C across several regions. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures may increase further by 2–3°C over the next two to three days.

The minimum temperature is likely to remain steady in major cities, with Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Gopalpur and nearby areas recording around 17°C, while Puri is set to be comparatively warmer at 20°C.

G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district continues to be the coldest location in the state at 5.6°C, followed by Daringbadi and Phulbani, both at 8°C.

IMD forecasts a further rise in night temperatures from Thursday, bringing much-needed relief to residents struggling with the chilly conditions.

Temperature readings across Odisha reflect a gradual warming trend.

Daringbadi recorded 8°C on Monday, up from 7°C on Sunday. Similar increases were noted in Semiliguda (6.1°C to 7.7°C), Rourkela (10°C to 11.5°C), Koraput (10.8°C to 11.5°C), Kendujhar (11°C to 12.6°C), Keeri (11°C to 11.5°C), and Dhenkanal (12°C to 13°C).

However, a slight dip was recorded in Angul (10.2°C to 9.8°C) and Chipilima (10.2°C to 9.7°C). Meanwhile, temperatures rose in Bhubaneswar (12.9°C to 14.1°C) and Cuttack (13.2°C to 14°C).

In Jharsuguda, the night temperature dropped marginally to 11°C from 11.6°C on Sunday.
