Cold Wave Tightens Grip Over Odisha; Daringbadi Records 8.5°C

Bhubaneswar: A severe cold wave has swept across Odisha, with Daringbadi in Kandhamal district emerging as the coldest place in the state at 8.5°C, followed by Phulbani at 10°C. The mercury has dropped below 15°C in 21 cities, affecting both hill regions and plains.
In the hilly regions, G. Udayagiri recorded 8.7°C, while Sundargarh, Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, and Angul reported temperatures between 10.6°C and 12.6°C. Among the plains, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded 15.2°C and 15.5°C, respectively.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cold wave conditions are likely to persist over the next few days, with temperatures expected to dip further in the next 24 hours.
“Dry and cold winds have been blowing continuously across the state since around 2:30 AM, which may cause a further fall in night temperatures compared to yesterday,” said weather scientist Umashankar Dash.
The sharp drop in temperature marks the onset of winter across Odisha, prompting residents to brace for colder nights in the coming days.
