Ravenshaw University Students Hold Roadside Classes to Protest Unsafe Classrooms

Cuttack: In a powerful act of protest, students of Ravenshaw University in Cuttack took their classes to the roadside on Thursday, highlighting the unsafe and dilapidated condition of their classrooms.
The demonstration was led by Plus III second-year Arts students, who set up makeshift seating along the road and continued their lessons in protest. Their move came after repeated complaints to the university administration allegedly went unheard and unaddressed.

“Our classrooms have been in a dangerous state for months. It’s not safe for us, and despite several requests, no repair work has started,” said a protesting student. Another added, “We even submitted written applications, but the condition has worsened — it’s now completely unsafe to sit inside.”
In a rare show of solidarity, one faculty member joined the students, conducting classes under the open sky to support their cause. The teacher appealed to the authorities to take immediate action and ensure a safe learning environment.
Students claimed that their concerns about the crumbling infrastructure have been raised several times in the past, but no steps were taken for renovation or safety inspection.
As of Thursday evening, the university administration had not issued any official statement regarding the students’ grievances or the status of the pending repair work.
