Kendrapara Minor Rescued from Maharashtra, Abductor Arrested

Rajnagar (Kendrapara): In a swift and coordinated operation, police have rescued a 14-year-old girl from Odisha’s Kendrapara district who was allegedly abducted and taken to Maharashtra. The accused, identified as Saurabh Das of Balasore district, has been arrested.
According to police sources, the minor—resident of the Talachua Marine police station area—had gone missing in May 2025. Following a complaint from her family, a kidnapping case (No. 59/2025) was registered at the Talachua Marine Police Station.

During investigation, police discovered that the accused had taken the girl to Solapur in Maharashtra, where she was being kept. Acting on a reliable tip-off, a team from the Talachua Marine Police conducted a raid in Solapur, successfully rescuing the victim and apprehending the accused.
Officials said that charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have been added to the case.
The accused was produced before court on Wednesday, while the rescued girl has been safely handed over to her mother.
Police have confirmed that further investigation is underway to determine whether others were involved in the abduction.
