One Dead, Another Injured in Rayagada Worker Clash

Rayagada: A violent altercation among construction workers in Bissamcuttack, Rayagada district, left one person dead and another critically injured. The incident, which occurred two days ago, came to light after tensions flared among migrant workers at the site.

According to reports, a group of workers from Lanjigarh in neighbouring Kalahandi district were engaged in constructing a tank for a mega drinking water project in Bhataguda village. On Tuesday night, a dispute between workers Kunal Lohra and Dilip Lakhra escalated into a violent confrontation. Kunal allegedly attacked Dilip with a sharp weapon, killing him on the spot. Another worker, Lalit Majhi, who tried to intervene, sustained serious injuries.

Local residents rushed Lalit to the nearest hospital for treatment and managed to detain the accused before handing him over to the police. Authorities later arrived, seized the body for postmortem, and took the accused into custody for interrogation.

Officials confirmed that the deceased’s body has been handed over to the family, while investigations continue to determine the circumstances that led to the violent incident.
