Odisha Hikes Daily Diet Rates for Patients in Government Hospitals

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has revised and enhanced the daily diet rates for in-patients across all government hospitals to ensure better quality and nutrition in patient meals, keeping in view the current market conditions.

According to an official statement, the Health and Family Welfare Department has implemented the new rates with immediate effect, replacing the earlier rates fixed under the department’s resolution dated August 3, 2023.

As per the revised structure, the general diet rate has been increased from ₹110 to ₹127, the paediatric diet from ₹95 to ₹110, the high-protein diet from ₹120 to ₹138, the dry diet from ₹95 to ₹110, and the liquid diet from ₹110 to ₹127.

The department has directed heads of all government medical institutions to ensure that food provided to patients is of good quality, served hygienically, and meets prescribed nutritional standards.

Officials stated that the revision is aimed at improving the overall care and nutritional intake of patients admitted to state-run hospitals.
