Odisha Enables Online Payment for Pending Traffic E-Challans

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has introduced an online payment facility under the One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme, allowing citizens to conveniently clear their pending traffic e-challans from home.

Initially launched for 17 sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, the OTS scheme has now been expanded to cover 24 sections with the inclusion of seven additional categories. Under this initiative, all e-challans issued on or before July 31, 2025, can be settled with up to 50% relaxation in the penalty amount.

Citizens can make payments by visiting the official portal — https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in/ — selecting the ‘Pay Online’ option, and entering their challan or vehicle registration number to view and clear dues.

Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena said the move will benefit lakhs of vehicle owners by simplifying the process and helping them avoid future legal complications. “People no longer need to visit RTOs for payment. The department has made the entire process online for public convenience,” he stated.

The Minister also urged citizens to use only the official Transport Department website for payments and to stay alert against cyber fraud.

The 24 sections covered under the scheme include common traffic violations such as driving without a helmet, seatbelt, driving licence, or insurance.

For further assistance, citizens can contact their respective Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) or call the 24×7 toll-free helpline 1800 345 1073.
