IMD Issues Orange Alert for Bhubaneswar, Predicts Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for Khurda district, including Bhubaneswar city, forecasting severe thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, moderate to heavy rainfall, and gusty winds over the next few hours.
According to the IMD, the alert will remain in effect until 4:24 PM today (October 8, 2025). The department has warned that gusty surface winds with speeds reaching 30 to 40 kmph may accompany the downpour during this period.

The regional weather office has also predicted intense lightning activity and heavy showers across several parts of the district.
Residents have been advised to stay indoors, avoid outdoor activities, and seek shelter in sturdy buildings to ensure safety. The IMD has urged the public to take all necessary precautions during the severe weather conditions.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as the city braces for potential heavy rainfall and stormy conditions.
