Mercedes Overturns in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A Mercedes car overturned on Jaydev Vihar-Nandankanan route near Raghunathpur on Thursday afternoon which left two persons injured.

As informed by sources, the luxurious car bearing registration number – OD 09C 9999 turned turtle reportedly after crashing into a road divider while it was coming towards Bhubaneswar from Baranga area. The intensity of the accident was so severe that the airbags of the car exploded but fortunately it did not hit any vehicle or commute.

Only the driver of the red colour Mercedes car was there when it met with the accident near the bridge at Raghunathpur. They sustained critical injuries following the accident.

Speaking about the accident, the eyewitnesses said that a man along with his wife was crossing the road near Raghunathpur Bridge on a bike when he could not see the car coming from the front. As a result, he suddenly stopped the two-wheeler on the road.

The Mercedes driver while trying to save the biker and his wife slightly hit the bike and climbed over the road divider. Due to this, the car lost control and completely overturned on the other side of the road.

The driver was rescued from the car in the presence of the locals. Since the car is expensive, there was no harm to the driver as it has an airbag. However, the biker and his wife were slightly injured and both of them were admitted to the hospital for treatment. A minor traffic congestion was reported on the Nandankanan- Jaydev Vihar route following the accident.

Later, a team of cops from the Nandankanan Police Station arrived after getting information about the accident and cleared the road following which the movement of vehicles became normal. They also started an investigation into matter by seizing the four-wheeler and bike.
