IMD Issues Yellow Warning for Odisha; Heavy Rain Likely in Four Districts

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued a yellow warning for 30 districts in Odisha following the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. The system is expected to move northwestward, affecting southern Odisha and adjoining regions.
According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is likely in Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts. Residents in these areas may also experience gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph along with thunderstorms.
In addition, 24 districts have been put under yellow warning for possible thunderstorms accompanied by lightning. The IMD has also cautioned fishermen against venturing into the sea, as rough conditions are likely tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the weather office has said that conditions are becoming favorable for the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon. The withdrawal is expected to begin from parts of western Rajasthan by September 15.
