Two youths, woman tied and thrashed over illicit relationship in Mayurbhanj

Karanjia: In an inhumane incident on Friday, two youths and a woman were tied to an electric pole and thrashed by the villagers over a case of adultery. The incident of Kangaroo Court has been reported from Begunia village in Jashipur police limits in Mayurbhanj district.

According to information, the woman from Kashipur village had gone with her relative to Jashipur weekly market on a bike. While they were returning, the woman’s family members spotted them.

They had an altercation and alleged that the woman has an illicit relationship with one of the two youths. The villagers then tied the three of them to an electric pole and thrashed them.

It is worth mentioning here that the woman is married with two children. Her paternal uncle and other members of her family saw the woman with the youth (who is like her brother-in-law) and assumed her of having illicit relationship with him.

The police on receiving information rushed to the spot and rescued the woman and the two youths. They were taken to the Jashipur medical for treatment after which they were rushed to Karanjia.

The police has registered a case under the relevant sections of BNS and has detained her husband and the youth for interrogation.
